Classes at Applecroft are organised according to the legal requirements for the curriculum. Primary Schools with a Nursery attached have three sections to a school, which are:
The Foundation Stage: Nusery & Reception
Key Stage 1: Years 1 & 2
Key Stage 2: Years 3 to 6

At present within the Foundation Stage we have two Nursery sessions and two Reception classes. Class sizes in the Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 have to remain at 30 or under by law. Within Key Stage 1 there are two classes in year 1 and two in year 2. In Key Stage 2 there is no legal limit but we always keep class numbers to 30. When classes are made up we always look to achieve a balance of children in terms of gender, ability and friendships.
