Admission Arrangements

Applecroft Nursery Admission Arrangements:

Applecroft Nursery offers one intake per year – this being the September of the academic year when your child turns 4 years old. An academic year runs from September to the following August.

We can admit up to 60, term time only, Monday to Friday, places in our nursery and are offering:
30 part-time, 15-hour places (morning or afternoon). Those attending the morning session will arrive at 8.30am and be collected at 11.30am. Children attending the afternoon session will arrive at 12.30pm and be collected at 3.30pm. Part time 15 hour places will be funded either from 15 hours of free early education or as part of the 30 hours free childcare entitlement for those parents/carers who meet eligibility requirements.
And 15 full time 30-hour places. Full time places are only available for those parents/carers eligible for 30 hours free childcare. Children taking up a full time place will arrive at 9.00am and be collected at 3.00pm. A full time place includes a lunch hour between 11.30am and 12.30pm - children have the option of bringing a home packed lunch or purchasing a hot cooked meal – full details of this service can be found in the Extended Services tab.

In addition to the options above we are also able to offer, to those taking up a part-time place, a lunch club session running from 11.30am to 12.30pm. The cost for this session is currently £5.00 per day. Children have the option of bringing a home packed lunch or purchasing a hot cooked meal – full details of this service can be found in the Extended Services tab. Please note that we do not accept childcare vouchers as payment for lunch club sessions, but those in receipt of 30 hours free childcare and only attending for 15 hours  can use 5 additional hours to fund lunch club.

Please note that we do not offer split provision of the 15 hours of free early education.

Applecroft Nursery is also in the lucky position of having access to wrap around care facilities offered by Jousters who operate on the Applecroft School site. Further information on the services Jousters offer can be found on the Extended Services link.

Visits to Applecroft Nursery:

We actively encourage and welcome prospective families to visit our Nursery before submitting their application. We would normally have a selection of meeting/tour dates running from the beginning of January through to March, unfortunately due to COVID 19 restrictions, we have had to put these on hold this year. The tour would normally commence with a 15 minute talk about Applecroft Nursery followed by time to visit the Nursery. In true Applecroft fashion, so that you do not miss out on this fantastic opportunity, we have commissioned a virtual tour of the nursery and within the tour have included our 15 minute talk. We hope you will enjoy the virtual tour and if you do have any questions or queries then please do send these to our Early Years Phase Leader, Mrs Sian Gardiner at reception@applecroft.herts.sch.uk

In the event that our admissions are oversubscribed, places will be allocated using the Nursery’s admissions criteria – full details of our criteria can be found in our Admission Arrangements.

Unsuccessful Applications:

If an application is unsuccessful, you may request to go on the Nursery’s continuing interest list and as a space arises, the admission criteria will be applied again.

Late Applications:

If you miss the application deadline please, in the first instance, contact the school and they will be able to inform you if the Nursery has any available spaces. If you would then like to make an application please complete an application form and return it to the school office as soon as possible.

In-Year Admissions

If your child has previously, or is currently attending, another nursery setting and you wish to apply for a place at Applecroft Nursery you will need to complete an in-year nursery application form and return it to the school office. The Nursery will contact you if a place is available and you meet our admissions criteria.

If a place is not available we would be happy for you to join our continuing interest list and as a space arises, the admission criteria will be applied again.
