World Book Day 2021

World Book Day

This year we are celebrating the wonderful world of books on World Book Day with a variety of activities in school and in our Google Classooms. Look out for communication in the classroom stream and emails from your year groups teachers. The organisers of World Book Day have once again provided each child with a voucher which they can use to obtain one of the specially produced World Book Day books or use towards another book of their choice. These will be available digitally via parentmail and when children are in school a physical voucher.

There is also a special 'Applecroft Masked Reader' event which will run for the whole week and be available via Google Classroom. Click on a letter to reveal a masked reader sharing one of their favourite books, Can you guess which member of staff is behind the mask? All will be revealed at the end of the week!

To help you celebrate the joy of reading and provide some inspiration for future reads, we have two digital bookcases where you can hear authors reading their own books. Most of the picture books are complete reads and the longer chapter books are extracts which may give you some ideas about the next great book you could read.

And remember, reading is not just for World Book Day, it is a gift we can enjoy forever. So find a comfortable place, settle down and enjoy your books!

Open the links below to reveal the digital libraries. Once the library is open you can choose a book by clicking on it and listening to the author reading their book.

The digital libraries contain recordings of authors reading their books.
