PSHE Curriculum Intent

'To enable children to be reflective so that they can value who they truly are and understand how they relate to others in their community and beyond, thus preparing them for learning and for life.'

'Jigsaw' scheme of work

At Applecroft School we follow a mindful and sequential PHSE scheme of work called ‘Jigsaw’ which is compliant with the RSE/Relationships and Healthy Education for September 2020. This is structured into 6 half-termly puzzles (units), with the whole school studying different aspects of the same puzzle at the same time.

The units are as follows:

  • Being Me in My World
  • Celebrating Difference
  • Dreams and Goals
  • Healthy Me
  • Relationships
  • Changing Me (Sex and relationship education is taught in year 6.)
