SEND at Applecroft
Applecroft is a community school, therefore our children come from the local community.
We are an inclusive school and pride ourselves in doing our upmost to enable all children to fully participate in all aspects of school life. For us it’s about ‘equity’ – what do we need to provide to give children the safe experiences and opportunities.
We have a dedicated SEND ‘hub’ in the school. The ‘hub’ is made up of a Nurture Room (the ‘Den’), a speech and language room where we have two Elklan trained LSA’s working with children across the school in the afternoons, an additional classroom (‘Dali’) and our Sensory Room. We also have a private meeting room here for meetings with parents and any external professionals that visit.
Our Inclusion Leader, Mrs Alison Brazier, holds ‘surgeries’ once a month after school for parents to come along and discuss any concerns they may have.
We also run half termly SEND coffee mornings.
Every child deserves a champion
An adult who will never give up on them,
Who understands the power of connection
And insists that they become the best that they can possibly be.
