Poetry Competition

We would like you to write a poem for the 2020 Charles Causley Trust Young Person’s Poetry Competition. This competition is open to all children aged 5-18 and there are different age categories. Visit https://causleytrust.org to find out more and have a look at the rules of entry below.

Please send the poems to us at the Y6 email address and we will organise the entry forms.

Entry is free and the prizes will include vouchers, books and other writing-related treats! Plus, the winners will be invited to a prize-giving event hosted by the patron of the trust, Patrick Gale, in October at the North Cornwall Book Festival

The theme this year is the ENVIRONMENT.

You could use your river poem as a starting point and adapt it for this competition, or start afresh and write one about another feature of the environment or what we can do to save our planet.

Below is a link to a message from Mrs Keefe.

Skipping Challenge

Last term the KS2 children should have been involved in the skipping competition. Stanborough's Sports Co-ordinator would like any children who would like to take part (and have a skipping rope at home) to practise and take part. They can record themselves skipping and send it to our Y6 email. We can then provide the names of the top ten children in the school and Mr Wyatt will pass on the numbers to the competition co-ordinator (see poster attached). The deadline for entries is May 20th

Design an Eco-Friendly Learning Centre

This competition is open to all KS2 pupils. Pupils can do their own designs or may want o work in a virtual team. You will need to do some research and use your imagination to create a building, playground and learning environment. Plans and an explanation to 'sell' your idea should be sent by email to your class teachers. Details are in the pack and task document.
