Easter Holidays Update: Monday 6th April 2020

Dear Parents,

 Welcome to a new week - today is officially the first day of the Easter holidays but since we are all finding our sense of time is somewhat out of kilter at the moment it may not feel this way.

 

Thank you to everyone who has continued to send in examples of the children's learning and activities over the past two weeks. We have added new photographs to the slideshow on the website.  As we mentioned last week, we will not be setting any new work until after the Easter holiday although children may wish to continue to  work through the work we have set so far. A few families  have mentioned some of the online daily lessons they have enjoyed  and we have shared the list here.

 

We have also attached an Easter Challenge and invite anyone who would like to take part to send us their photos to share on the website. This is just for fun. There are three different challenges to choose from - you can do as many as you wish. We will think about how we can organise you voting for favourites once we have all the entries in. The closing date will be Friday 17th April.  The challenges are:

2. The Most Beautifully Decorated Egg

3. The Most Unusual Egg Hunt

Monday 30th March: Year 6 Update

 Dear All

 Hello to everyone at the beginning of our second stay at home week. We are all missing you but have been so pleased to hear from you and truly appreciate the good wishes sent. We are really proud of how well you have been doing and have seen lovely examples and photos of the different things that you have been learning and the ways you have been spending your time at home. There is now a slideshow on the Year 6 website pages of your photos. Do keep the photos coming as it is another way we can all keep in touch.

 

We will not be adding any new work to the website until later in April. There is an electronic home pack on the website as well as the pack we sent home. In addition you have the link for Skellig readings plus suggested follow up work and the  MyMaths work we sent out last week. You may also want to use the exercise book we sent home for diary entries, a story or poem of your own choosing or to record any of the outdoor learning you have been doing. If you have any writing or art based on Skellig - or indeed any other pieces - we would love to know what you have been doing. 

 

Although there are some marking sheets on the website, we don't have any for the CGP books - unfortunately due to copyright we cannot forward these to you however you can use calculators to check your work.

 

Again we would like to re-iterate that there is no expectation children complete all the home learning we have provided. There are many other things they can learn at home and keeping a sense of balance is important. However, one of the most important things the children can do is to read. Every day. Reading has a huge impact on their wider knowledge, vocabulary and writing and the more fluent and confident they are as readers the more successful they will be as learners.
